Quivva compared

Quivva is a practice management tool for one person running a small number of retainer or engagement-based client relationships. Fractional executives, independent consultants, people whose business is three or four clients who each matter rather than thirty who each do not.

These comparisons come from actually using the other tools, signing up, tracking time, generating invoices and finding the rough edges. Where another tool is better for you, the page says so. This is more about what is best for you, than trying to establish a clear overall winner. Each tool has strengths in its focus areas.

What Quivva is

Quivva models the engagement rather than the invoice. You set up a retainer (hourly, or fixed fee for access), track time against it from a timer that lives in the header of every screen, and Quivva keeps your burn position and remaining capacity visible as you work. Invoices generate from time already recorded, grouped into line items by task name. It also handles fixed-price projects with milestones, expenses with receipt capture, and multi-currency invoicing.

Quivva is all about helping you manage your workload, understanding your capacity and allowing you to operate your business in a professional manner.

What Quivva is not

It is not a CRM. There is no sales pipeline, no proposal builder and no contract templates. It is single user by design. If you need to win work as much as deliver it, you will need something alongside Quivva or instead of it.

How to read these pages

Every specific claim on these pages comes from hands-on testing, and each page notes when the observations were made. Young products in particular move quickly, so a bug found in one month may well be fixed by the time you read about it. Where something is likely to have changed, the page says so rather than leaving it to age quietly.

If a comparison seems unfair to a competitor, or if something here is now out of date, get in touch and it will be corrected.
